The neuro-bloggers are doing it pirate style this time around as the 17th edition of the neuroscience carnival Encephalon comes to shore at Pure Pedantry.
SandyG has posted the 11th edition of the neuroscience blog carnival Encephalon at The Mouse Trap. I haven't had time to read the whole thing yet, but in skimming I found an utter delight of a post about Ray and Charles Eames at Peripersonal Space. Also, apologies for the downtime, both from a technical standpoint and from a personal blogging perspective. I've had a lot of technical issues to deal with. Those are mostly resolved satisfactorily. Hopefully I'll be getting back into the swing of things this week.
I've been lax in my blog carnival promotional activities lately so one quick post before bed, and then voting the Republicans out of the Governor's mansion here in New York later on today. Encephalon, the neuroscience blog carnival breaks into the double digits and there's no better host for it than Bora, champion of all things blog carnival, over at A Blog Around The Clock. Although there's tons of interesting wetware blogging in this edition, in particular just let me point out SandyG's two-parter (1 and 2) on the ways in which our brains handle color memory may tell us more about how we process language.
Two of the net's best blog carnivals are out there right now for your approval. The third edition of neuroscience carnival Encephalon is posted at the Thinking Meat Blog (hey, that's almost as good a name as Neural Gourmet) and Circus of the Spineless 11 is over at Words and Pictures.
Also, don't forget -- the deadline for Wednesday's Carnival of the Liberals #18 which will be at reyonthehill is 11:59PM PST tonight. If you haven't submitted your liberal masterpieces yet, time is running out. Don't make me send Al Gore's goons around to beat it out of you. This means you Doctor Biobrain.
Details at reyonthehill.
Well, don't let anyone tell you there's nothing interesting in the blogosphere, because we've got proof right here that anyone who says that is full of it. So, in no particular order and I hope I haven't forgotten anyone, here's the notable blog carnivals for the past week.
Over at Brainshrub, Paul was proudly showing off his birthday suit in the 17th Carnival of the Liberals.
Tangled Bank has become a grand old science blog carnival, with #58 hosted by Martin at Salto Sobrius.
And there's a hot, hot, hot Carnival of Education#76 down in Texas at the Education in Texas blog.
If you think the Texas heat is for the birds, then you're wrong because they've all flown across the Atlantic to do I and the Bird #28 with Katie over at Bogbumper.
If you're looking for a bite to eat, then maybe the skeptics will give you a Scooby Snack if you ask nicely. For it's 39th meeting, the Skeptics' Circle has taken a field trip to Franken Castle (aka Mike's Weekly Skeptic Rant).
The brainy people are engaging in Pure Pedantry with Encephalon #2.
Finally, if you're feeling overwhelmed by all this great reading, then maybe you want to join everyone else Powering Down in Carnival of the Green #36.
Coming up Sunday we've got every infidel's delight, the Carnival of the Godless at Beware the Dogma and Synapse, the other neuroscience carnival at The Neurophilosopher's Blog, who coincidentally runs Encephalon.
Well, it looks like my cable connection has been fully restored which means I can start catching up on everything I've missed this weekend, plus the ton of e-mail and other stuff I've got to get through. In the meantime the very first edition of the new neuroscience carnival Encephalon is up now at The Neurophilosopher's Blog. A lot of exciting reading there from various perspectives on the neurophysiology of dread, infectious emotions, the cognitive science behind social categorization, and much, much more! This is going to be a carnival to keep your eyes on.
A whole passel of our favorite blog carnivals and two new blog carnivals that we hope will become favorites. [...]read more »
