I can't believe my Radio said that!

I'm listening to NPR on the way into work today (I don't particularly care for NPR since they "Jumped the Shark", but I like sophomoronic "Morning Zoo" programming even less) and I caught a piece about the troubles they're having in the Dover, PA school system. Seems that the School Board has decreed that in their Science classrooms, when they get to the part of the Biology book that discusses Darwin and Evolution, a "School Official" must come into the classroom and read a 1-minute canned statement (approved by the Board, no doubt) that states that Evolution is ONLY a THEORY, it's not proven, AND there is another point of view called (wait for it...) INTELLIGENT DESIGN... Then the Official is supposed to inform the kiddies that there is a text book down in the school library that explains more about ID, if you're so inclined...I assume that classtime will be made available to all who want to go look at this wonderful book? Several other things bothered me about this story. It was stated that a few school board members were playing the "What, Religion? THIS isn't religion, it's Intelligent Design, NOBODY said anything about GAWD..." game. Obviously the Dominionists have taken over the Dover School Board. these board members also claimed (without corroboration)that TWO THIRDS of the parents in the US WANT ID taught in school... 2/3...OK, if 197,000,000 people believe a stupid thing, it's STILL a stupid thing. Perhaps somebody should make application to the Dover School board demanding that the concept of the "Flying Spaghetti Monster" (may He touch you with His Noodly Appendage)be taught, or a section on Benjamin Hoff's "Tao of Pooh" (which is actually a very good read from ANY POV) be taught in the PUBLIC schools. Think so? Nawwwwwwww..... These Dominionists...You know them, the "Every Knee shall BEND, Every head shall BOW" people? The same people who are even now, working their way up through the school boards and town councils of our nation, eyes on the prize of a seat in the Senate or Oval Office, a majority of the seats on the SCROTUS? And they're getting close. Why, in Indiana, Congressman John Hostettler holds forth with opinions like telling a group of breast cancer survivors that if they hadn't "killed their babies", GAWD wouldn't have taken their titties. How did he come to that conclussion? he read a report that there was supposed to be a higher incidence of breast cancer in women who had abortions... And this fruitcake also was arrested trying to take a handgun aboard an airliner. His excuse was "My Bad, wrong briefcase!" He pled to a misdemeanor, so he wouldn't lose his House seat. Care to speculate when anyone else would be getting out of Gitmo if they had done the same thing? And it's only Monday, Fellow Babies...
