Atheist -- Zak Attack Productions
This has been floating around the godless blogosphere. I saw a post about it at The Uncredible Hallq [1] linking to it on God is for Suckers! [2]. So you might have seen it already. If you haven't then you're going to want to give this little video a watch. Even if you have seen it you might want to watch again. This is the updated version which was uploaded to YouTube on July 1st.
As far as the video goes, it's great. Really fantastic. And I think utterly doomed to fall on deaf ears although it's sure to become a favorite of the choir. Let's face it, many of the people we consider great examples of humanity and evidence of atheist morals in action are exactly the ones being vilified by the fundamentalists (and the Republican Party). All those stats are wonderful to see too but unfortunately there is an anti-intellectual bias that cuts deeply through American culture that views all statistics as suspect. That view is only exacerbated by religious fundamentalism. I wasn't too happy with the inclusion of Edison either, who is not the most moral guy [3] I know of, but arguably he contributed greatly to society nonetheless.
If you're digging the music, it's Is This The Real Thing by DJ Madson [4] and is from the documentary The God Who Wasn't There [5]. You can download it at the movie's website.
So what do you all think? We say it all the time that atheists need our own propaganda, but can videos like this do any good?
