Everyone is invited to participate in something new we're trying here at NG. For quite a while now, some Neural Gourmet members and I have been having discussions using Skype. These discussions have been so much fun we'd like to extend that. So this Sunday, we're going to have our first public discussion using Skype's Skypecasting feature. This allows up to 100 people to talk, conference call fashion, at once. If we see a lot of interest, we'll be doing this regularly with a different topic each time.
The topic for our first discussion is centered around the recent BBC program 9/11: The Conspiracy Files which took a skeptical look at the the various paranoid conspiracy theories surrounding the September 11th, 2001 terrorist attacks in the United States. You can watch the whole program and read more about the discussion after the fold.

For our first discussion to be held Sunday, February 25th, 2007 at 2:00PM EST, we'll be talking about the recent BBC documentary, conspiracism and what response skeptics should have to conspiracism in the 21st Century. This first discussion will be somewhat freeform but you will want to have watched the program. Needless to say if you're pro-9/11 conspiracy theories your views are not going to be welcome but feel free to listen in. As long as everyone is polite and good tempered I won't kick anyone from the conversation. I'll update this post as we figure out the details more.
To participate in the discussion all you'll need are your computer, a headset (or speakers and a microphone), Skype and an interest in the topic. You'll be able to join in by going to the Neural Gourmet Discussion skypecast webpage. I've also added a link to the menubar at the top of Neural Gourmet. Our planned running time is 1.5 hours but we'll shorten or extend it as needed.

Updated 2/26/2007: Guy Smith, producer of the BBC documentary 9/11: The Conspiracy Files appeared on the Alex Jones show to defend the BBC's treatment of the 9/11 conspiracy theories against Jones and Dylan Avery. You can listen to this program using the online player below or download the MP3. I've removed the commercials and the preceding portion of the show before Smith's spot, but the program remains otherwise unedited.
