Well, it's been a week now. What I have done is cut back severely on my consumption of that ever-popular consumer comodity known as "News". No Chris Matthews, no Keith, no Wolf, no, not a lot of anything. At least not from the Murkan Media. I skim the international news to see if we're at war with Iran yet, catch up on the latest results from the Dauphine Libre' (did you know that Americans took the top four places in a stage last week? Was it mentioned in the Murkan sports press? Why do you ask?) And what's going on locally.
What I do NOT waste my time with is crap about bear attacks, alligators (unless they find one in the Wabash or Moots Creek) Natalie Holloway, the Duke Lacrosse team, Patrick Fitzsimmons, Tom Cruise, "Brangelina", yada, yada, yada...
And I feel better. Life's not a bed of roses by a long-shot, what with the continuing relationship difficulties and a situation at work that has me short of breath and near tears every time I walk into the place, but if I had to add all that to a whomping dose of news overload, I'd probably be in a rubber room with a Thorazine drip going. (hey, that doesn't sound like that much of a bad thing?)
I've quit listening to Air America Radio. Randi, I dig you and I'd love to be your booty-call, but you're shrill, you just repeat the same thing every other show has, and when you have some CT woo-woo on, I turn you off. In fact, I'm re-programming my Roadie. BS-RNC, out. Bob Edwards, out. CNN, out. In fact, I'm taking all the news channels out except for the BBC. I'm replacing them with music. No talk in the truck.
So here we are. I wonder what the next week will bring? Do I consider myself any less-informed than I did 2 weeks ago? No, I don't. Well, My knowledge of the noise that passes for "current events" isn't what it could be....
Oh, I'm back to losing weight, too. I've lost 5 pounds in the last month. Wonder if there's a corrolation?
