First Snow
First snowfall of 2005 in Cherry Valley, NY.
Well, it looks like our first big snow of 2005 wasn't. Originally the NWS out of Binghamton was forecasting 7 or 8 inches by this evening. Temperatures have remained a little higher than predicted so most of it came down as rain. That's not to say anything though as the weather changes rapidly around here. We could still see a few inches.
The photo is taken from out the window of NG HQ high atop the Gilday building in bustling downtown Cherry Valley (pop. 650), birthplace of the information superhighway. Centered you can see the eagle perched on the top of the Civil War Monument.

You've gotten more than I have
Last 2 days they've been promising snow and rain mixed. Slick roads. Fog.
Today it was sunny. They can't get it going right sometimes. Indiana weather is like that, cold one minute, scorching the next, then a snowstorm overnight.

It's turning all white outside. Quite a bit of wind too. Maybe I'll keep a pictorial snow journal for the visitors to NG this Winter who are lucky enough to live where it doesn't snow for 5 months out of the year. I mean, if I'm going to bore people, I might as well go for extreme boredom.

That's a good idea...
People like to look at stuff they don't get themselves...Thus the popularity of "internet porn" }

Just looked out the window, and there's snow on the ground. And they're bracing for 12" NE of here...
